The machines on site, whose they are, and what they are doing.

The daily production report says how many rigs worked on a given day, which is a count of rig-days rather than of machines. The register is what makes "5 of 8 rigs working" a statement about the fleet.

Each machine carries its plant number or plate, make and model, category (rig, crane, excavator, loader, tipper, mixer, pump, generator, compressor, welding set, desander, water tanker, service vehicle), whether it is your own or a subcontractor's — and if a subcontractor's, whose — and its state: working, idle or broken down.

What it feeds

  • Rig utilisation on the board: working machines as a share of the fleet, not of the day.
  • The Plant and Equipment table: working, idle and down, split between your own and subcontracted.
  • The rig list beside the board, each with a coloured dot for its state.

Keeping it current takes a minute a week and is the difference between "the rigs are fine" and "two of five have been down since Tuesday".
